Tengah Town to Connect to Jurong Town Via Jurong Region Line
This upcoming town in the Tengah Town will be smart and sustainable. It will be served by four MRT stations and will be completed in three phases, from 2027 to 2029. Located near Jurong Town, Tengah Town will be a vibrant, family-friendly community with plenty of amenities.
The new town will have comprehensive amenities at the community level, including a sports hub and community centre. Residents will be able to enjoy a wide variety of activities and facilities, including organic produce grown on their own. The new town will also have an integrated neighbourhood centre and delivery nodes.
The town is designed with sustainability in mind, and has computer simulations to inform the design. For example, smart lights will switch off when rooms are not in use, thus reducing energy consumption. In addition, a centralized cooling system will regulate the temperature of homes. This will save on energy costs, as it is more energy efficient than individual air conditioning units. Furthermore, automated waste collection systems will contribute to a cleaner and healthier living environment, while reducing pest infestation.
Residents will enjoy access to a future MRT station via Jurong Region Line. This line will connect Tengah with its neighbouring towns. By 2026, the Jurong Region Line is expected to serve the area. Residents will have convenient access to public transportation, with the MRT and Jurong Region Line just minutes away.
In the coming years, the Jurong Regional Line will add four new MRT stations to Tengah Town. These stations will serve the areas in and around Tengah Park. Tengah Park station will be located near the plantation district and opposite Dulwich College. It is expected to open by 2028. The station will enable Tengah residents to have a quicker journey to places like Pandan Reservoir.
The Jurong Region Line will connect the area to the rest of the island. It will connect Tengah to Jurong East MRT station, Jurong Lake District MRT station, and Jurong Innovative District MRT station. It will also connect to the North-South MRT station, Jurong Pier MRT station, and NTU. The area also features five major pathways, which will provide convenient access to nearby destinations. These pathways include Forest Place, Bus Priority Corridor, and Mobility Corridor.
The Jurong Region Line (JRL) will be a 24-kilometre train line that will connect Jurong Town and Tengah Town. It will be the first MRT line in Singapore to feature elevated tracks. It will serve Jurong, Tengah, and Jurong Lake Districts. In addition, the line will run through the Jurong Lake District and Choa Chu Kang.
The Jurong Region Line is set to open in phases starting 2026. The line will provide access to existing developments in the western part of the island and help develop new areas. It will also improve the accessibility of the area’s schools and industrial facilities.
The planned Tengah Town will bring new amenities to the western part of Singapore. It is envisioned as a smart town, complete with green features and smart technologies. It will house the residences of the Arden Singapore as well as offices, and will complement Jurong Lake District, Jurong Innovation District, and the existing Tengah town centre.
The Jurong Region Line will have four MRT stations serving Tengah. It will include the Tengah Plantation station, Tengah Park station, and Jurong Town MRT. These stations will connect to Tengah, Jurong East, Jurong Gateway, and Teban/Pandan Gardens.
The LTA is planning to extend the Jurong Region Line to Tengah Town. This new town is slated to be a car-free zone with underground roadways and separated pedestrian lanes. It will also offer easy access to Jurong Town’s MRT station. Once complete, the Tengah town centre will be the first in Singapore to be car-free. By eliminating car use in the town centre, it will be a safer environment for cycling, walking, and other recreational activities.
A new rail line is being developed on the west side of Singapore. The JRL will provide an excellent connection to the west-end district. It is expected to improve connectivity between 60,000 Jurong households. It will also help stimulate economic activity in the west side of the city.
