Surbana Jurong Group ranked 13th largest architecture firm globally
Surbana Jurong Group has achieved a major milestone by being ranked 13th in the World Architecture 100 (WA100) 2023 survey. This annually-published list by Building Design magazine ranks the world’s largest architecture firms based on the number of architects they employ. Last year, the group had attained the 14th position.
The WA100 2023 survey has placed Surbana Jurong at the highest Tengah EC ranking for an architecture and design firm headquartered in Singapore. With over 1,000 architecture and design professionals worldwide, including over 670 architects, its architecture business comprises Singapore-based SAA, Canadian B+H and Sino-Sun in China. B+H stands at 65th position in the same list.
Yeo Siew Haip, CEO of SJ Global Architecture (Asean and North Asia) at Surbana Jurong Group and CEO of SAA, commented on this ranking: “Our portfolio of projects consistently demonstrates our commitment towards designing and delivering people-oriented architecture that inspires, spaces that build and connect communities, and design outcomes that transform the urban environment.”
Lee Kut Cheung, chairman of Surbana Jurong’s Global Architecture and Design Council, added that this achievement stands as a testament to their focus on building design talent across the group.
Surbana Jurong’s inclusion in WA100 is the latest of several accolades it has received. In 2022, Engineering News-Record’s Top 225 International Design Firms listed them at 23rd place. Its flagship brand SAA was also the recipient of multiple international awards, including the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) Best Tall Mixed-Use Building Award of Excellence for City Gate, FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence World Silver Award for Northpoint City, and Architecture MasterPrize in the social housing category for Eastlink I & II @ Canberra.
B+H too received several awards in 2022, like the BEED Education Architecture Award for Canada International School Kunshan in China and NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association Best Office Development for 402 Dunsmuir in Canada. HDB Design Awards for Northshore StraitsView and Upper Serangoon Heritage Corridor, and the Singapore Green Building Council – Building and Construction Authority (SGBC-BCA) Leadership in Sustainability Award – Building Project Leadership in Sustainability (Carbon Performance) for National University of Singapore School of Design & Environment were also among the rewards bagged by Surbana Jurong.
The achievement in WA100 is a testament to the success of the firm. Surbana Jurong’s portfolio and awards demonstrate their commitment to designing and delivering high quality architecture tailored to inspire, build and connect communities. The group’s focus on cultivating design talent has enabled them to leverage the unique strengths of their brands to offer creative services to their clients.
