Wee Cho Yaw retires as chairman and director of Singapore Land Group; Wee Ee Lim to become next chairman
After nearly thirty-three years, Wee Cho Yaw is retiring from his position as chairman and director of Singapore Land Group U06 0.00%. On March 31st, his retirement from the group will be effective. As a show of appreciation, the group will appoint him as chairman emeritus and honorary adviser.
Woo Ee Lim, the son of Wee, is a non-executive and non-independent director of the group. He will follow in his father’s footsteps to become the next chairman. Further, the younger Wee is also the president and CEO of Haw Par Corporation, having taken that role in the October of 2003.
Wee Cho Yaw is also the chairman emeritus and honorary adviser of United Overseas Bank (UOB). Beyond these positions, he is also a substantial shareholder of the group.
On February 24th, shares in Singapore Land Group closed 2 cents higher or 0.86% up at $2.34.
Wee was officially appointed to the board of the group on June 26, Tengah EC 1992. Since then, he had served with dedication and distinction in the role of chairman and director. His leadership and guidance will be sorely missed but his legacy will remain a part of the group’s structure.
