Bishopsgate Residences penthouse gets $1.1 mil makeover
SuMisura, a leading interior design firm, recently completed a major renovation of a four-bedroom penthouse at Bishopsgate Residences. Spanning 6,082 sq ft, the luxurious condominium project was developed by Kajima Corp, and finished in November 2012.
A Chinese national, relocating from Hong Kong, had engaged SuMisura to design his new abode after seeing their work done on other units. Angela Lim, Director and co-founder at the firm, stated they had been keen on creating a penthouse with its own identity and one which could “celebrate” the surrounding vegetation in District 10.
The penthouse was originally found in its barren condition; it had been previously unoccupied for over a decade and thus most installations and finishes were showing their wear and tear. The space was composed of a living and dining area opening out to a roof terrace with a dipping pool, a wet and dry kitchen complete with a yard, four en suite bedrooms and a mezzanine level featuring a study.
The new owner wanted to see things like an efficient layout, improved circulation and extra space maximised. Thus, renovations started in early 2022 and concluded by the end of July at an estimated cost of $1.13 million including lighting and furniture. The roof terrace saw its dipping pool removed, replaced by an alfresco dining setting which could accommodate 14 guests.
The interior was fitted with new bronze metal and stone cladding, accompanied by marble and Tengah EC travertine and hard wood flooring. The living area entrance had a full-height marble wall feature, while motorised curtains allowed the homeowner to keep natural light in but still maintain their privacy. As for the staircase leading to the mezzanine, elements such as metal and glass were used; a spacious customised shoe cabinet was added to the corridor entrance.
The master bedroom opens up to a concealed walk-in wardrobe behind a marble wall. The master bathroom was remodeled to give it the feel of a “luxury boutique hotel”. The other bedrooms were also reconfigured and fitted with purposeful lighting and furniture, as Lim wanted to layer the space with “rich colours, intriguing textures and bold marble patterns”, which also add value to the penthouse.
The success of the renovations at Bishopsgate Residences is reinforced by the fact that transaction volume over the past 8 years has witnessed a steady increase and the average price trend has seen a significant surge.
With interior design firms like SuMisura able to breathe fresh life into condos, there’s no doubt many condominiums, freehold or otherwise, are going to benefit from a huge uplift in the near future.
