GuocoLand promotes Valerie Wong to managing director

GuocoLand Limited is pleased to announce the promotion of Valerie Wong to the position of Managing Director of Asset Management, effective from January 1, 2023. With more than 28 years of experience in asset management, Wong has been part of the Group since 2014, and has been the driving force behind the development and completion of Guoco Tower, the Group’s flagship integrated development in Singapore. Anchored by a diverse mix of tenants, comprising top multinational corporations, the development has seen close to full occupancy and has delivered impressive rental reversions.

Wong will be overseeing the further development and growth of GuocoLand’s asset management business across its three key markets – Singapore, China, and Malaysia. In Singapore, the Group has two more integrated mixed-use developments – Guoco Midtown and Lentor Modern – that are expected to be completed by 2023. Guoco Midtown will showcase a new generation of hybrid workplace, layered with wellness and sustainability features. The commercial retail space in Lentor Modern is expected to be accretive to the Group’s investment portfolio and recurrent income.

Cheng Hsing Yao, CEO of GuocoLand, expressed his confidence in Wong’s capabilities and commented, “Valerie played a critical role in GuocoLand’s transformation from a residential developer into a multi-platform real estate company in Singapore over the last decade. She will now play a key role in leveraging the expertise we have developed in Singapore to help strengthen our asset management capabilities and business in China and Malaysia. As we Tengah EC continue to strengthen and diversify the commercial components in our existing developments in Singapore, Malaysia, and China, we also look forward to the completion of our new integrated developments. This will set the stage for GuocoLand to grow its asset management business and position the Group to capture the next wave of growth opportunities in the coming years.”
