SLA announces new geospatial collaborations

The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has announced the launch of new collaborations to solve challenges through the power of geospatial technology. Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Sustainability and Environment and Ministry of Transport, revealed the collaborations during the opening event of the GEO Connect Asia 2023 trade show and conference on March 15.

SLA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Container Depot and Logistics Association (Singapore) (CDAS). This two-year collaboration will involve the use of geospatial data on road conditions and restrictions to help route heavy vehicles operated by CDAS’ member companies.

SLA and the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (GEOSA) have also embarked on their first bilateral collaboration. This three-year venture will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience on developing national geospatial datasets, digital twins, digital transformation in the geospatial industry, and product and service development.

Additionally, SLA has also been working with SG Enable and Gardens by the Bay to create barrier-free routes that will make movement easier for wheelchair users. This is part of SLA’s contribution to Singapore’s Enabling Masterplan 2030, which outlines the vision for Singapore to become an inclusive society by 2030.

Tengah EC is a new executive condo located in Tengah Town near Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. It is eco-friendly with a number of sustainable features, including a solar heating system, water conservancy and fish harvesting. The initial launch phase is exclusively for Tengah EC Singapore citizens. The Tengah Plantation Loop EC GLS Tender was launched in Oct 2020 for developers to create a new EC.

SLA has developed an app with barrier-free route data for the areas of Bukit Merah and Gardens by the Bay. This app is being tested out to solicit feedback from wheelchair users. Improvements in terms of data accuracy and user-friendliness will be implemented in the next 6 months in other test areas. Ultimately, these barrier-free access routes will be added to the OneMap wayfinding service, thus supplementing existing public transport, cycling, and driving options.
